Re: Downloading data to democratize geolocation?
you'll find over the years, I address all topics with the same level of seriousness. you'll also find no greater supporters, advocates, and general allaround wardriving boosters. if you think running this site (and being large-scale net observers ourselves) isn't leg work, you have not been paying a...
Re: File parsing seems to be halted...
everything is running. just slow (and the files processed is updated when the batch completes)

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Re: Wi-Fi location accuracy
from the FAQ: The "triangulation" is actually just an average of the latitudes and longitudes gathered using the signal strength (squared) as a weight. This assumes that signal strength will change at the inverse square of the distance. This is reasonable as long is you don't get a one sid...

Re: A quick Google Nexus 7 review
i've seen that as well with mine, but hadn't thought much of it.
i think that exit does exit it, and the thing you see in the "running apps" list is just an intent to restart it,
but i'll check the logs for sure.

Re: Some questions
"discovered" by our defintion is "first discovered", so that can't be teased out we don't currently have a way to show you on the webmaps which networks you have observed, but *you* have this ability, since you have all of your observations, and can plot them any way you see fit ...

Re: Distributed numbercrunching?
there is a good amount of crunchings, but the overwhelming majority of the processing process is I/O and contention limited. we've not yet come up with an approach that beats the current centralized system (which is quite fast up until it isn't) across all of the metrics that matter to us. an embara...
Re: Looks like file parsing is stuck...
regular file processing is online, and processing. just running slow behind some other jobs.
everything will be processed in the order they were received.

Re: How to correct wrong coordinates?
all notions of "wrong" in an imprecise omnidirectional broadcast environment are relative,
as they are based on points where an observation was recorded, not where the signal source is.
more observations will move a point over time.
not all moves are reflected immediately in the webmaps.
