Data requests

Postby Sith4dmin » Thu Apr 21, 2005 3:19 am

Sooooo... I know that Digle pulls only a limited number (60k?) of APs per geographic area (county), but is that really a good idea? Do I have to create custom mappack definitions just to get the real data for a county (whee load King County Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)? How are the top 60k chosen?

Use the <shamelessplug>Musatcha.com Advanced WiFi Mapping Engine</shamelessplug> and load the map using a "Split Query". It'll download the data for wherever in chunks to be sure you get everything.

Will do; however I think the wigle devs should rethink the current system. As the database continues to grow into the millions the county-size mappacks are going to fail to represent major urban areas with any real accuracy.

heh. that behavior originated as a "feature" to limit load on the server (and to limit our broken clients.)

at the time those limits were imposed the idea of there being that many APs in a given query was madness.

we are working on updates to those limits, but its a knotty problem. for jigle (and i believe digle as well, arkasha can correct me) a subsequent loading of the mappack will update the cache where it left off.

0.3.184, downloaded this morning.

EDIT:
Coords I'm looking up are:

MinLat: 33.85
MaxLat: 33.96
MinLon: -118.34
MaxLon: -118.46

Downloads about 7600 APs then craters.
