How many wireless access points in the world?

Postby Spotigo » Wed Mar 05, 2008 7:58 am

Hi!

I am trying to find out how many access points for wifi are there in the world and, if possible, in certain countries.

But I find it difficult to find any data about that. Do you have an idea or some estimations?

Besides the sum for the whole world I am looking for figures for countries like the 5 big European, USA, Canada, Japan etc. but basically any figure / estimation from any country would help me.

Thanks in advance!

"yes"

its a nonsensical question in the abstract. specifically for wigle, we don't break anything out by region stats-wise. You can certainly poke around in the
webmaps and see places that networks have been seen by people who have posted their observations to wigle.

since it keeps coming up, i'll re-note for the uninitiated that these are open air radio-beacon observations, and not authorization to use any resources.
