UPDATE: I've been using Xport for a few weeks now, and it works well. The only feature that Xport is missing is a status indicator (for when your GPS has signal). In GPS Gate it would switch from red (no gps) to orange (gps, but no signal), to green (good signal). Maybe the Xport guys can add that i...

FOUND IT! It's Called XPort.

This is the one I was looking for. Still haven't tried it yet, but this is the one I remember seeing way back when:

Free Alternative to GPS Gate

A while back I saw a post where someone had a free alternative to GPS Gate. I downloaded the 'HW Virtual Serial Port' program from www.hw-group.com but don't really dig it. There was one that looked very similar to GPS Gate that was free. In case you don't know what I am talking about, GPS Gate take...

I guess now would be a good time to remind people that they can combine their stumbles into a single upload file (merge files in netstumbler) so that the processing time can be minimized.

If you are using Windoze, the 7-Zip program works well to compress your files to .gz. Also, I merge all my netstumbler files into a single file, like w1234.ns1 before I post. And, of course, I have archived every post I've ever made.

Be a good citizen and compress the file. It'll save bandwidth for everyone.

Vehicle Mounting Hardware for Laptop

Right now, I just throw my laptop onto the passenger seat, and open the lid facing me, but I want to get something a little better to use when wardriving, etc. Here are some of the things I've seen so far. They are all to expensive in my opinion, but some good ideas. My favorite one so far, but way ...

Do you need a major quantity of netstumbler files/stumbled ap's? If not, you should just do some stumbling on your own. If you need a lot of data, I can sell my 65,000 AP's w/GPS for $2000 (the terms to be detailed upon purchase)
