Best Android for WigleWifi

I have a Motorola Droid 2 that I was using just for Wigle (no cell service), but lately it won't get a GPS lock. Are there any recommendations for low cost Android phones that could be picked up on eBay that work great with Wigle. I'm looking for something that doesn't take a year to get GPS lock an...

Re: consolidated.db

This is an amazing new feature. I never realized how many networks my iPhone has been around in the last year. My 2 files had a total of 195,000 networks in them! This is going to hugely increase the total networks if everyone using Wigle pulls their DBs

Re: Possibly corrupt file failed

Thanks for checking it out. The sole maintainer on the Kismac project just kicked back into high gear and discovered a problem with garbage collection that was causing corruption of files.

Possibly corrupt file failed

I had a recent upload of a .kismac file that may have been corrupted. The file parsed, but ultimately the processing failed. Any chance someone could see what caused it to fail?

Re: Network count in file and Wigle don't match

Awesome. The numbers look good now. Thanks for the quick reply and this project as a whole. It's a nice distraction for me and a good excuse to see my whole region.

Network count in file and Wigle don't match

I just noticed after uploading a file that the network count in my file and the network count shown by Wigle aren't matching. I was wardriving with Kismet on my Mac and saving to .nettxt file format. The file shows 4,212 networks, but Wigle shows just 2,593 networks. The transaction ID was 20101105-...

I started with WiFiFoFum since it was the original. When WiFiWhere came out I switched for the automatic Wigle uploads, but it's very buggy. I've experienced far too many failed uploads to Wigle to really utilize the feature. Also the scan rate is far slower than WiFiFoFum, which makes for poor scan...

CSV

I've had the same issue in some of my larger uploads to Wigle. I got around it by turning off the auto delete after upload feature. Then after you upload you can check to see if there were errors and if so just mail yourself the CSV. The app obvious has a few, bugs but overall it works great.

Hardware support is still a bit iffy in Kismac, but it's gotten a lot better. You'll have support for anything built in, several pcmcia cards, and several usb adapters.

I run a omnidirectional antenna as well as a directional panel style antenna and I've noticed that it does add a certain amount of my stumbling numbers. It's not dramatic, and I certainly wouldn't invest any significant amount of cash in such an antenna, but if you can get it for a good price it may...

Step one would be to make sure the GPS is actually registering in /dev/. I've always been successful plugging in my gps and running dmesg or lshw to see the particular device that's initialized by the new hardware. From there try to cat the device. The GPS should be sending a constant stream of data...

Incase anyone out there is still looking around for a GPS I'd highly recommend the globalsat bu-353 as well. Works great on my Mac and Linux boxes. Small size, high accuracy, fast fix.

Queue seems to be stuck

There seems to be an issue with the queue. I uploaded yesterday afternoon and my 2 files became 262 and 263. After a few hours the queue dropped to 261 and 262. This morning I'm still in the same spot. This might not be related, but I noticed that yesterday 2 small files I uploaded took 7900 and 260...
