It IS possible to query the search function for the APs in a certain area. It's possible to code something like this, but it's not a good idea. Well all I can say, then, is that the growing corpus of data that's queried exactly this way in more and more areas of interest, with growing datasets, is ...

I'm not going to risk giving WiGLE something that could amount to basically a DDOS attack just to see if it happens without the permission of the people who run it. As far as I know, doing this properly wouldn't work unless the wigle people did it themselves -- or let someone code for that kind of ...

I'm not too sure WiGLE would hold up to doing this. Plus, their plugin doesn't even view all the networks - it would be way too many... If WiGLE's TOS was a little less restrictive (someone else could mirror the db and provide this service), this may be a little easier... but that just opens a whol...

Not to argue ;-) -- just a question: what kind of (1) CPU and (2) network bandwidth differences are there for wigle between these alternatives: (a) downloading graphical map imagery from wigle whenever a user wishes to view a different area, whether it's live data or cached or (b) downloading compre...

It lets you query a SSID or BSSID, I could make it work for a location. Maybe even a webserver to point Google Earth's network link on (but running on localhost, of course). I'm a relative outsider to the wigle community. However, the project is superb and interests me greatly. But the most amazing...

OK, the only KML/Z I find so far, is no longer downloadable. It's a bit hard to believe that no one has done this yet. Everyone seems to be converting static files instead of creating dynamic bounding box data links. Is any use of this project in Google Earth dead? I mean, what with 3D interfaces, r...

Since there are reassurances that this is forthcoming, I've assumed a posture of patience. Yes, it's a no brainer. Yes, it's easy to do. Yes, it's elegant, powerful, and the way everything's going. Yes, GE is likely to be the universal geo-app for some time to come. So I presume that wigle's maintai...

Dag! Still no KML serving?

This is not a rhetorical question, and I'm not trying to be pushy or anything; I'm just honestly curious: why hasn't anyone set up a server-side application to deliver dynamic links in Google Earth yet?

Thanks -

But . . . but . . . you guys are accessing a DATABASE. Don't the Wigle folks intend to accept http posts with lat/long data from Earth, using Dynamic Data Layers to show any hotspot in the Earth viewport? Constantly rendering search results as KML to use in Earth is missing the ideal way Earth works...

No KML yet?

Doing a few searches, I came across this site. I'm a bit amazed that you're not natively doing dynamic data layers yet. All you need to do is accept lat and lon information as http posts or gets from Google Earth, and return records that fall within the viewport as XML, with as much information in t...
