Re: Downloading data to democratize geolocation?
We absolutely don't want data we can't trace back project users - please don't upload data you haven't observed.

Re: API batch search BSSIDs
By all means, tell us how our system works.
What you want is a MAC address to location lookup system, which lots of other folks are happy to provide. That's not the point of this project.

Re: How are zip/postcodes calculated in the geo-political stats? / Inconsistency in stats for Brunei
Those are based on lookups done from the OSM Nominatim index at the time of trilateration - it's possible that: - the OSM boundaries/codes are bad (but they're open source and you can help fix them!) - the index used to be incorrect but has since been fixed (depending on when those networks were fir...
Re: Exported files (.CSV/.KML.SQLITE) building up on phone?
that's interesting - sharing an existing on-device CSV shouldn't make a second copy that requires cleanup - only a failed upload. There are too many legitimate applications (and other users use cases) for the on-device files for us to create an automatic deletion process, even after the filesystem l...
Re: Highly restrictive query limit
Interestingly, that is your Account query limit (IP query limits are useless) - but clearly you didn't read or ignored the other forum posts about this subject. Perhaps you're complaining about the limits on other accounts you've registered in an attempt to circumvent the EULA? The limits are in pla...
Re: Exported files (.CSV/.KML.SQLITE) building up on phone?
Yeah, that's an artifact of the way we used to be able to use "external" storage on Android (like images and certain docs still are) to store these and make them more easily accessible between applications for for users to access directly for investigation/use. With the Android filesystem ...

Re: API batch search BSSIDs
That would be materially less efficient on the back-end for us.
Re: Question about the weighted-centroid trilateration named in the FAQ
we do however open-source a super-quick trilateration algo for the network view in the client:

Re: Question about the weighted-centroid trilateration named in the FAQ
I'm afraid that's impractical - it's not a general purpose tool.
Re: Almost (if not all) of my recently uploaded APs are showing up as WEP encryption
sure - just send us the transaction ID at the admin email address at the bottom of the page, we'll zero it out.
Cheers, and thanks for the investigation

Re: SSID field in BT search output
that's the device "name" property, which corresponds quite closely to SSID.
Re: Almost (if not all) of my recently uploaded APs are showing up as WEP encryption
send us the transaction ID, we can check out the upload (you can share the ID in pvt/email if you prefer)
Re: Map Hitting 'Daily Limit' Frequently
The limits are working the way we intend now. Notes to people reading this thread: this is a free community project, and if your limits are set low, it's either because you're a new user, or because you've sent us signals suggesting that you're attempting to abuse the system. The solution to this is...
