Hear, Hear.
I'll do the sony etak module, if i can ever find a clearer reference about what precusely the weird, character-based DoP/QoS characters mean.

PCMCIA gpses
if you get one, I HIGHLY recommend either a GPS antenna jack or a built-in external antenna.
ScotchTenna
I got commercial-cantenna-like performance from a can (stolen from a bottle of speyburn scotch), used an element length calculator i found on the web, and added some quick-release mounts to a tripod (the little springloaded ones). estimated cost (includes a tasty single malt, n-type M panel mount, a...
GPSD under windows
it works already (with some patching); i've even got DiGLE to poll data from it. now we just need marius to integrate support for GPSD into netstumbler
DiGLE: new-haven freak-out
wow. crazy. it looks like there's an encoding error in the map file named TGR09009-2.png (the most zoomed-in png for newhaven) I'll ask bob to regenerate the image, but in the meantime, you can just cull that one from the TGR09009.mappack file, and it should be ok. (remove the line "image.2=JiG...

yup!
you're right. the import in JiGLE sucks.
if you're using netstumbler, then you can just choose the "other" export format;
if you're using dstumbler (or something else) i'll get right on that.
it's the decimal/sexigesimal thing mentioned above.

jigle cacheing
well, we don't have proxy yet (it's through :80 now, but we could make the port flexible, or use other means of getting the data... what kinda of connections interest you?); you _can_ cache datasets and use them locally though, (for whatever that's worth)

shifts in mapping
i haven't had a chance to check out the submission yet, but odds are that the GPS coordinates were in "sexigesimal" (degrees/minutes/seconds) instead of "decimal" (degrees/decimal degrees)or vice versa. this is fixable by submitting the points through the 'other' interface on the...
