Known, and bad, issue

This is a known issue, it happens when zoomed in all the way. Not sure if it's a rounding bug or what. It's most likely an edge case for the zoom level, some value not being tweaked the way it should. At any rate, it needs to be fixed. It's not specific to any particular mappack.

uptime shmuptime

I do apologize for the downtime recently. Hardware failure, full disks, database corruption, and instable net connection seem to be conspiring against me. We are currently working on getting this on a stable colo with yummy bandwidth, so please bear with us.

Amps

The legal limit is 1 watt, but those are very expensive. The 802.11 amps are bi-directional so your transmit and receive is amplified. And yes, it works pretty well. :)

Copyright free

We want copyright free maps, which basically means making our own maps from copyright free sources of geo data. You could make mappacks out of other peoples maps if you know the gps coords of the upper left and lower right corners if you want (take a look at the .mappack files, it's trivial :)

Added gzip module

I finally got around to adding the gzip module, so those with browsers that support it (definately mozilla, probably all modern browsers) will get the mod_perl pages (all of wigle.net) gzip'd, so maybe it'll be a little zippier. Now we need to make the JiGLE client be able to accept gzip'd queries...

Forums for fun and profit

Yeah, i wrote the forum stuff just for fun, it still needs some more work with data organization, having different pages when there's too many threads going, being able to expand and contract threads, etc. The suggestions list has had decent traffic on it, i would like to seem them used more. Maybe ...

Outside US

Heck yeah we want to do outside of the US maps, but we haven't found a good source of data as of yet. There are a few places with general country borders, but it would be nice if we could find street-level detail like what the census gives out. If anyone finds a source of geo data let us know!
