Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

Well that's not good news. 1. check the permissions under Settings -> Applications -> WiGLE Wifi Wardriving" -> permissions: make sure it has the stuff it asks for (sometimes Android "optimizes" these for you starting in 11, and withdraws them on your behalf) 2. Did you get an OS upgrade recently? H...

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

that definitely doesn't happen on other Pixel 3a devices. A few questions:
- are you running a custom OS build?
- Do you have unusual power saving measures engaged?
- have you allowed permission for fine-and-coarse grained location?

...bobzilla put the first WiGLE upload form online. An unlikely and remarkable series of events ensued and WiGLE.net has grown, evolved, and thrived for 20 years as of today.

Re: RFE: Map dark mode (black terrain red streets)

in response to this thread: 1. you'll note that the app (apart from the map) now obeys Android's day-night theming options - this means we're to the point where we can begin working support for day/light sensitive map themes. As always, pull requests are very welcome for the open-source client at ht...

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

that's a weird outcome! random experiment to try: "pausing" scanning in the app doesn't turn off the scan receiver, it's stops the process that initiates scans on our behalf. This means that if you pause scanning, but another process on the device is initiating scans, you get the results of those up...

Re: Best Android for WigleWifi

generally its pretty battery friendly - most "new" phones I have can use it for hours on end, and the pixel 5 can run it all day. Have you changed the settings to scan as quickly as possible?

Re: Export to KML

This is just to get a single BT network into the export - I think there's a bug when there are zero BT networks in the DB; potential fix here:

Re: Export to KML

got it. I have a suspicion;
Understand if you can't test this where you are, but if you enable BT scanning and activate any bluetooth signal nearby, does the problem persist?

Re: Export to KML

Sorry for the trouble; a couple of pieces of information would help us diagnose this: - App version you're running - Whether you're using the "Run," "DB," or "Upload" KML export (and triggered in which manner/from which page) - An error log (Settings -> ... menu -> Send error report) if present - If...

Re: Best Android for WigleWifi

Pixel 4as aren't too bad, but if you want a real budget pick, and older Pixel used on ebay might be a good purchase!

nice - I did that with my pi w zero rig!
