Nice. I dropped it into Keynote, and made this in about 10 seconds :) http://x9.ath.cx/stuff/graph.001.jpg Wow, channel 6 is popular... (I'm a channel 1 person myself, I'd otherwise be using 13, but two things here have US wireless cards in them...). It's as I suspected with regards to 802.11a thoug...

Stats on channel usage?

Can we see statistics on how many APs use each channel? I'd be interested to know.

I'd be guessing that 1, 6 and 11 are the most used, but I'd like to know about the other channels.

Does Kismet scan better if it's using a monitor VAP? I thought it helped to destroy all the other VAPs and only have a monitor VAP going. Yep. If you've got an AP or client active, it can't hop channels without either the AP changing channel 5 times a second, or the client link being repetedly disc...

Yeah, why do you want Kismet without a GPS? So anyway, you're going to have to use wlanconfig work to create a monitor network. man wlanconfig tells you how to do that. That is if you have the newest (or relatively new) madwifi drivers installed. Actually, you need to specify wifiX (probably wifi0)...

that ip isn't in the ban list. the wiki uses the credentials from the non-forum side of wigle, so make double sure you're logged into that side. or there something real wierd goin on. If I can do a query, and view my uploaded files, I'm logged into that side, right? Edit: My IP has changed and it w...

Re: "Residential Wi-Fi Mapping Database Revealed"

Footnote: Somebody looking for a paid wardriving job ? That would be really cool. If only I was in the US. Could we perhaps dump another wifi scanning device in the car that also happens to be uploading to WiGLE at the same time? I wonder if they'd allow that, and I wonder what the terms and condit...

"Editing not allowed: user, ip, or network is blocked." My IP is 121.45.103.244. Another tip for the Wiki (that I can't add): • Use Kismac / Kismet over NetStumbler. A passive stumbler will find all those APs that have hidden SSIDs. NetStumbler will just miss all of them. Also, NetStumbl...

You have to be logged in to edit the wiki. yay4spam.
It definitely says my IP or network is blocked. It works from where I am now, but not my home connection.

Sorry for the misspelling. I'm not careless. It was just an instance of expecting to see something and seeing it (although it wasn't there). A wiki would be nice. I'm posting the info there now. I don't have time to do it right right now. It's at http://wigle.net/wiki/index.cgi?Cardinal_Rules_Of_Wa...

Re: Cardinal Rules (FAQ) of wradriving

Possibly not, but it depends on how good it is, and who you're buying from (I have my sources :) ) I suggested fab-corp because their stuff is guaranteed to be top-notch (if not a little pricey). Hyperlink is pretty good. Defacto wireless is pretty solid too. There are just so many iffy places that...

Put a password on your network, and you will deter 99.9999999% of hackers. That would be deterring all but one out of approximately one billion hackers. Do you honestly think it's that strong of a deterrent? Figure of speech :) Make that "All but the most determined to specifically target you ...
