Heh. My inverter failed too. 8 hours of usage. No bad smoke smell. Just blew three fuses. Upon replacement of those three fuses, and replugging in of the inverter, it beeped continuously. I was going to buy another one about a year ago, but put the cash down instead for a GPS (USGlobalSat BU-353). I...

Update: We do have a kind-of working passive mode for Atheros cards in Intel macs. It's in the latest dev builds of KisMac. You don't need to build from source any more - there's binaries posted at http://trac.kismac.de/ And as USGLSL didn't clearly point out - Prolific have released a universal dri...

Well, I use KisMac on my PowerBook, so I guess I don't notice anything - passive mode. Then again, AirPort Extreme is only ~35mw... so I guess it's not much.

Check out trac.kismac.de for the kismac stuff.

Kismac is now a bit MORE universal, more than it was before. Try it now. So far: Passive scanning on the internal wireless of the MacBook and Intel Mac Mini... not working. Uses a strange Atheros card, never seen before. Passive scanning on Intel iMac - uses old Broadcom chipset, works fine. Active ...
