mystery moving aps

why, we had that very problem come up. :-) we're looking into good temporal solutions (more recently seen is better, etc). finding general weighting heuristics that don't suck takes time. it will always affect the triangulation, and will just re-adjust as it is observed in the new location more freq...

supported formats from PocketWarrior

well, we do csv and wiscan+ so that should be no problem.
we'll look into the tab-separated text-output. is there any additional header information or file extention convention?

bad wep goo

anything is possible :-) if you could forward examples of suspect data to wigle-admin@wigle.net that would help. (its also possible that the point was once seen WEPped, even though it may not be now.) i believe we mark as WEPed anything seen wepped, but i've been wrong before. if we do, perhaps we s...

(a bit better) and almost 90k networks, 300 people, 52 areas, 4 continents. er, as best i can remember ;-) we're waiting until we can link in the results of the wardriving competition at defcon, but the Lords of Wireless - comprised of 5 of the top 1...

filtering

we mark points as filtered if they exhibit anomalous behavior, being in the middle of the ocean, significantly statistically deviant from other observations of that network, etc.

the limitless power of wigle

there will always be server-side limits on the dataset, just as a practical matter. they'll probably be foo where foo is some thousands or tens of thousands depending. we're looking into a wigle.net api that will make this a bit easier to do (currently targeting java/perl and probably c, any other r...

for what its worth, i would say the following: don't break into someone's network first and then ask permission. unauthorized use of a network is illegal. however, IANAL, so take that with whatever you feel is an apropriate ammount of salt.

we don't have forums and the main wigle site using the same cookies just yet, so you have to log into both (using the same login/password) we should get that cleared up eventually.

the current plan is for an executable jarfile, which isn't as slick as the .app packaging, but is more portable. osx will deal with it correctly and its just java -jar for everyone else.

hopefully. we'll see :-)
