Web maps showing "Plot Error, Apologies"

The web maps seem to be showing "Plot Error, Apologies" for all tiles. The Google maps background is working fine.
Used to work fine for me, is part of the platform down still? (i couldn't access anything or upload files for a couple of days from a variety of devices and ISPs, the front page was an empty HTML file... i guess the whole site was down?)

part of the mapserver is being restarted, it is hitting the very busy database, and taking longer than normal.

Well no, means something else ate too many resources and it was restarted, so it is not expected usually.
