100858 new AP's with GPS in 31 days. All time recordbreaking monthly high for the group.

Top 5 uploaders for August:
1 mark571 24414

2 scruge 19087
3 ccie4526 16637
4 goldfndr 7844
5 freg 5575

Excellent work by the top 3, all having 5 digit uploads.

Uploaders for August:

Top 3 Longest time since uploads:
1 Netforce 1 year 6 months 8 days ago
2 audit 1 year 2 month 17 days ago
3 sykojester 1 year 2 month 11 days ago

An outstanding effort by all. Passing the 500.000 mark, as well as managing to compile over 100.000 new AP's with location data can only be described with one word : Dedication!.

For the record, even if you log AP's without a GPS, get them uploaded. It seems like you will get credit if you detect the AP first, and somebody detects it later with a GPS.
I noticed that audit had 4774 AP with GPS detected this month, and 4770 AP with GPS detected last month. As he haven't uploaded any data since last year, it means somebody else with a GPS have seen those 4 AP's during this month.

Running stats for September:

Average Networks with GPS pr. member: 9894 - 10296.118 % of wigle average

we actually have had to invest in a gross of industrial-strength rubber bands to keep the folks over at the wigle network support complex's jaws off their desks.

an amazing month by anyone's metric, but an especially amazing month by the wigle metrics.

What can I say, besides "I'm a goddamn slavedriver!!!"

I cajoule, harass, inspire, inflame, smacktalk, compliment, sweettalk, and use electric cattleprods on the groupmembers in order to GIT-R-DONE!, as evident from the last months posts in the Wigle Group stats thread on the NS forums.
If that don't help, then I threaten them with the Poking-Stick<tm>, albeit the version used by G8tk33per on the NS forums..

Seriously though, that you set up the group function on the wigle site, insured that the community spirit flourishes, and makes people feel they are together in a project. Thats why people show such dedication, and interest in going out there and getting it done.

And that's why I posted this suggestion, for a group wepmaps function. The more group related stats and functions available, the higher incitament to join a group and be a part of a community.

I'd have to restructure the mapserver to handle a list of users, but that could be done. A deeper issue is that without those users logging in and authorizing a map made using their points, it does leak information about where they've been (altho some groups are large enough that maybe that doesn't matter because there's still enough people to make individual data moot). But it would be an argument against making it generally available.

Maybe a flag on the group so people would know what they're getting in to. Have to deal with legacy users in the group, maybe have them give authorization.

Everything is more complicated than it should be :)

Wouldn't bother me, I've found APs on four of the seven continents. ;)

I'm sure I'll be criticized for saying this, but personally, I'm not all that wild about this idea. No, I will not elaborate further than that.

No you won't be criticized for it, as you are allowed to have your opinion, and your voice should also be heard.

It's a shame though, that you won't elaborate on why you don't like the idea.
If it's because you are afraid of being identified due to being the only person in your area uploading, then remember that your data is already available when people use the web-maps, or a Wigle client with a mappack for your area.

The only reason for asking for this option (preferably implemented as an option limited to show only the data for the group you are a member of and have contributed uploads to), is to further enhance the community spirit of belonging to a groupm by being able to see the areas all the fellow group members have covered. This might influence more people to join a group, instead of making their own 1 person groups.

Again, I have no doubt that you might have valid reasons for not liking the idea, but alas, it would have been nice to hear them.

Dutch, I didn't mean you would criticize but others would and already have. You're a great guy.

It centers around the corporate mind set I have to work in daily and their perceived standards of ethics irregardless of the real world and laws. I'm sorry I can't be more specific.

You should try duct-tape this time :
Group stats for September 2005
108628 new AP's with GPS in 30 days. Second consecutive month breaking 100K new AP, and another all time recordbreaking monthly high for the group.

Top 5 uploaders for September:
1 scruge 30394
2 mark571 17957
3 ccie4526 17461
4 theprez98 9470
5 wrzwaldo 9107

Group stats for October 2005
Grudgematches and jockeying for position took place between the 2'nd & 3'rd placeholders, and the 5'th and 6'th placeholders in the overall groupstats all the way during the month. This resulted in 99475 new AP's with GPS in 31 days. Just 525 short of a third consecutive 100K month. But still an exceptionally high amount making an average 100K pr month over the last quarter year.
"Dedication!", no other word describes the group members efforts.

Top 5 uploaders for October:
1 mark571 29496
2 scruge 21429
3 Dutch 7755
4 wrzwaldo 7604
5 aquatechie 6031
