Can anyone suggest what kind of antenna I can use at home to increase my reception? I'd like to put an antenna on my back patio and just let is set there. That way I can discover with my desktop pc. Thanks ahead of time.

get a big 'ol omni and mount that sucka out there. this would allow you to pick up in all directions.

OR you could go with a yagi or parabolic and center in on the location of the AP (if that matters to you) or at least know what direction it is in...but you have to have someone move the antenna and someone watching the SNR at the same time.

We buy a lot of things from these guys, they've been really good to us, and the gear seems to be quality.

Any of the mag-mount omnis intended for mobile use should be okay. For best results, you should mount the antenna on a cookie sheet or other sheet metal to provide a ground plane.
