Meridian Plantinum GPS: power cord and serial connector

The gear needed for wardriving

I use a Magellan Meridian Platinum with my Dell Inspiron 4100. I have two cables for the GPS: one is a serial connector that goes to the computer and another is a cigarette lighter power cord. For those of you with the same GPS, you know of course that you can only use one of these cords at a time.

Has anyone been able to rig up something so that you could use the serial connector to send the NMEA data to the computer, AND power the GPS through the cigarette lighter at the same time?

Any help you may be able to provide is very much appreciated!

Garmin makes cables that have a serial and a cigarette or plug, check with the manufacturer, they probably have something similar.

ok well now I feel like an idiot. Magellan never used to carry such a thing, so I've been looking elsewhere. Now, of course, they have it listed as one of their new products. Unfortunately, its $45, fortunately, I found it 10 bucks cheaper on EBay,

Thanks for the help.
