I notice that Wigle doesn't support .kismac format. So I exported all my KisMAC logs in .ns1 format. None of them processed (some reported error, most reported as having 0 lines, etc.).

Anyways, I guess I'd just like to see .kismac file uploads supported. I'd be happy to provide sample files.

I got a couple thousand access points to upload... 8)

if you can get us your transaction ID (you can email it to wigle-admin@wigle.net or use the message board if you don't want to email)
i didn't see any .kismac files in the upload directory, but i will check again.

you may want to check your kismac version, all the KisMAC generated netstumbler-style wi-scan files posted today have two longitudes: lat lon lon
those will not parse correctly :-)

KisMAC v0.06a.

Transaction IDs:
20031107-00005
20031107-00006
20031107-00007

thanks for the sample data!

okay. the .kismac files are definitely the NSKeyedArchiver format.

this is good and bad. it means that the file can easily be read on a os x 10.2 and up machine, and that we can't parse it on the WiGLE box (not a mac) until apple releases specs on that encoding, or we can find a tool to decode it from a non-mac os.

if you happen to know of such a tool, or come across one, let us know, and we'll use it.

in the meantime, i'll keep poking at it (and trying to trick^W convince my friends at apple with beer :-)

there is a bug in the kismac NS export, which is why wigle won't accept the files produced. i've submitted a patch to the maintainer. if you build kismac from source, i can make that patch available to you as well.

Seems the Netstumbler output has reportedly been fixed, among other things (actually, the 3 bugs I reported... kudos to the author).

However, I just tried uploading some .NS1 exports, and no go. Here are the Transaction ID's:
20031111-00000
20031111-00001
20031111-00002

Each upload returns a total of 1 network (although each file contains 200-500 networks).

>What's new in this version: Bugfix for three seriuos bugs. Sorting should not crash KisMAC on 10.2 systems anymore. kismac files can be opened from the Finder again. And thanks to Hugh Kennedy, the netstumbler output is not corrupted anymore.<

okay. updated netstumbler wi-scan parser is in place (apparently my kismac patch wasn't 100% complete).
can you try just one file again? (sorry to be such a pain, it Really Should Work this time :-)
thanks for your patience.

Ok, Netstumbler export from KisMAC 0.06b seems to be parsing correctly. Sweet.

Sample ID: 20031112-00006

You'll notice KisMAC is grabbing GPS coords for significantly less than half of the access points. The GPS unit is fine (after all, MacStumbler grabs coords just fine). But this is a puzzle for another day! If everything worked all the time, it wouldn't really be a hobby, right? :-)
