How come none of my newly discovered points show up?

Suggestions for WiGLE/JiGLE/DiGLE

I've uploaded a few files over the past few days (I'm kinda new to doing this), and none of the new network's I've uploaded are showing up. maybe an admin could look into this? They have all completed, but they don't show up on any of the Wigle clients (I tried Jigle and DiGle), or the Wigle web map. Someone told me that the clients are supposed to be instant-update, but it's not working right now.

Spot checking your uploads, they appear to show on the webmaps fine. The webmaps update once a day, so uploads parsed on the 16th won't show up until sometime on the 17th. JiGLE and DiGLE will update right away, but remember that if you're in a popular area you may need to connect multiple times to get all the batches of data.

Postby costello » Sun Mar 18, 2007 12:04 am

Is there a special way to enable JiGLE/DiGLE to download data in batches, because every time I load my area, the client program says 60,000 APs found (or something to that effect), but the DiGLE/JiGLE directory stays the same exact size. I DO have the "Cache AP data Locally" option clicked in DiGLE, so shouldn't that be enough.

It DOES display MY points (DiGLE only) when I check the option to show only my discovered AP's though.

This leads me to believe that not all of the points are being shown in my client. :?

Is this possibly something that needs to be fixed in the next version of JiGLE or DiGLE? or am i just doing something wrong.

don't know if this helps, but I am looking in Ventura County:

lat: 34.229°
long: -118.843°

DiGLE is in some ways like the lesser fortunate cousin from the hills.. He might be able to do most of the stuff, but he ain't exactly the most filled cartridge in the inkjet printer...
DiGLE can't get more than 60K data.

Change to JiGLE, and you can get more than 60K AP's displayed for a mappack, by selecting the mappack multiple times in a row.

I must be doing something wrong, bacause I cannot get it to go past the first set of data. I am trying to get Maricopa County, AZ but only get 58044 AP's. I've searched the forums all day and cannot find anything other than, "select the mappack multiple times."

I have changed the -mx parameter in the run.bat file. I have tried closing Jigle and reloading the mappack, switching to a different map, etc. Below is a log file, it always looks the same no matter what I try. I did receive an error about WiGLEAPI.Properties, but I found that file in /org/mimezine/wigle/ and copied it into the dir of the run.bat file and it has not given that error anymore.

I am running WinXP SP 2, 1.4 GHz, 504 MB Ram. The date ranges of the AP's that I am getting are from 1/21/2005 to 1/20/2006, is there an option somewhere to make it look for a longer date range? Any ideas?

I do not have any of the filters set, but even with them set it only loads the same 58044 points.

I've tried about every other suggestion I came accross to, but no luck.

Something is dodgy with your existing cache files.
Open the WiGLEnet/data folder and delete all files in it.

Then to start with freshly downloaded data, do the following :

Start JiGLE via the batch file.
Select the mappack you want.
Wait for the first batch of data.
When fully loaded, select another mappack, preferably one with little data.
When that has fully loaded, select the first mappack again.
Repeat untill no more data is being downloaded when selecting the first mappack.

WorksForMe.

Are you able to get all the points from Maricopa County, AZ to load? I am able to get other big counties to update several times, but not Maricopa. Still only get 58044. I tried completely deleting the Jigle and starting over. But still no luck.

I'm seeing the same issue with Washington county, MN. I can't get data beyond November 7, 2006 to load anymore.

Toggling to Wright county MN county gets data up to Feb 27, 2007. When I go back to Washington county I can see Wigle being re-queried, but I get no more data.

I have deleted my cache files in WiGLEnet/data.

Not sure if this is what actually fixed it for me, but I got it to load all the data. First I downloaded the mappacks for the surrounding counties and got some additional data from there, due to the overlap of the boundries. Then I started looking at the boundries, and decided to make the "box" smaller for the county that I was looking for. That got more data, so I went back to the original size, but shortened the number of decimal places, i.e. from -112.13234345 to -112.13234, just removing the last few decimal places, that seemed to get all the data, now I have points updated today.

Perhaps someone who knows how the queries are run can look into the length of the lat/lon input and see if that causes a conflict with wigle or something like that. But if you can't get anymore data maybe try going into the /mapData/bounds file and shorten the lat/lon for your county. I used win32pad to edit it.

I fear reopening this thread, but I still can't get the client to work, and I've tried reloading the data in batches, but nothing happens when I do.

Even after a fresh download and Install to a different directory, JiGLE only downloads some of the access points. I have tried to download multiple batches in the same instance of the program, and by closing the program and re-selecting the Ventura County Vector Map.

Currently JiGLE will only download 4444 APs, and then won't find more on returning visits.

SWANKy, could you provide some more detailed instructions?

EDIT: Also, wouldn't changing the search area size also change the scale of the map to be different from the image scale? (placing AP's where they really aren't)

I too am finding the same problem when using Jigle. I can actually get all the points under digle, however jigle does not seem to cache the information. It retrieves it again every time I load the map (which takes between 5 and 10 minutes).

I am trying Washtenaw County in MI.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I to was experiencing the same problem, and I am looking for a solution as well.

Thanks

Basically what I did in a very compact form is this:

Took the bounds.txt file that is found in \JiGLE\mapData\ file and edited the parameter for the county that I was looking for, Maricopa, AZ. I edited it as follows:

Code: Select all

Original parameter: 04013 C AZ, Maricopa AZ S 34.04814148 -111.03990173 32.50493622 -113.33443451 New Parameter: 04013 C AZ, Maricopa AZ S 33.962 -111.285 33.18 -112.692
Basically I looked at the webmaps and zoomed into the area that I wanted to cover and took the coordinates from there, and just transferred them to the bounds.txt file. If you notice the coords are just a little bit different for the two versions above. This also changed the zoom level when the map first opens.

I am running XP Home SP 2 on my laptop, but I also did the same thing on my work computer, which is Win 2k, not sure of the service pack though. It worked both times. After modifying the bounds.txt file I was able to load multiple batches until I loaded all points in the area.

Again I don't know if this will work for you or not, but its worth trying. Let me know what you come up with.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. I tried modifying the coords. multiple times. Each time it displayed a new area of the map, sometimes when displaying a larger area I did show more points. However it still isn't displaying all the points. It seems as though I can only get data up until a specific date.

It appears to then Sept. 14, 2006 was the last update. I uploaded files this week though.

Postby Blaze312 » Wed Jun 20, 2007 2:31 pm

I did a little more testing as well. It appears as though it isn't just the one county for me. I tried at least one other county I war drive in and it is stuck at 3/15/06 and I was war driving there until at least August 06.

So if I had to take a guess at the problem it has something to do with caching the files. Instead of reading from the cache and just getting the new points. It goes to the server and recaches everything. This would explain why it stays at the same date. It gets the info from the server everytime stopping at the same place each time. It never gets any new information because it just recaches the same thing every time. This is just an educated guess. I may be wrong.

Hmmmm, sorry to hear that. Are you using the vector maps, or the raster maps? I checked this morning and I was able to load data from Washtenaw County updated 6-19-07, with 41983 AP's. That was with the original bounds.txt file, I just loaded it, closed the client, and re-opened it loaded again. Took 3 loads but I got them all. This was with the vector map.

You said that you tried a fresh install? Also did you edit the -mx***m part of the run.bat file to reflect your system RAM? Other than that I'm stumped.
