Hi folks. Just joined. I want to contribute.

Can anybody suggest the best setup with the equipment I have?

- iPhone 4
- iPhone 6
- MacBook Air
- Garmin GPSMap62
- Raspberry Pi 2's (2 versions) kicking around

I'm also a developer. I'd like to have a system where I can grab some recently sniffed data. I can match up timestamps if need be.

Thanks in advance. Cheers

I go with this very minimal setup: a rpi0, a Tp-Link TL-WN722N and a ublox-7 based mouse GPS, and a power bank, of course.

And for the software, I use a software I wrote: https://github.com/solsticedhiver/ssid-logger

This is super-cool!

Do you have cool pictures to help inspire people?

Cheers and great work,

@arkasha this is a question for me ?

I previously posted about this in viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2751&sid=831d48cccb ... 48d#p10501

It looks like this https://imgur.com/a/9ne8HgW I changed the cord for some elastic. But not much of a change since.

I would have like to 3D print a case but that is a bit out of my league, and I don't have a 3D-printer at hand to avoid printing cost.

Edit:
I made a quick tutorial to describe the software/OS setup I used. It is not complete yet, but it gives an idea. https://github.com/solsticedhiver/ssid- ... hlinux-arm

I tried one of the integrated "USB hats" with pogopins to see if i could decrease the footprint of my Pi stumbling rig, but it increased the power consumption vs. a simple Anker OTG hub. I also have some single- micro->A "inserts" that turn the OTG micro USB into a single A 'tab' that slides into a male A connector (super weird!) if you can bear to stumble with the internal radio and just need GPS.

OK. That's interesting for the USB hats. I will not try that then. Do you have any rough figure about the increase consumption power ?

I don't visualize what could be your micro to A USB insert. Is it something like what I used ? I have a micro to A 90° right angle adapter, you can see that on the photo.

I have not tried to use the wifi card of the rpi0 to sniff wifi beacon. You have to use a special driver and even modify the firmware ? I found that not easy the last time I tried.

No figures on the power consumption, just that I was seeing rail decoupling.

This little beast is the adapter I use:

I haven't looked into the driver/build for the pwnagotchi, but they clearly have full access to the radio, for what they do.

I was thinking of the nexmon driver: https://github.com/seemoo-lab/nexmon

That's what I tried. That's what the pwnagotchi project must use.

By the way, I forgot that I use a rpi0 with no (built-in) wifi, so this is not relevant for me ;-)

Edit:
You can find some impressive hardware setup in the various kismet's discord channels. Most notably #3d-printing-design
